Are you ready for assessment?
Are you ready for assessment?
What is the purpose of feedback during assessment?
To help you develop and improve through the assessment process, and to let you know where things are not going so well or not so well. There may be opportunities to re-visit areas that have not gone so well.
Whilst it can be daunting to receive feedback, it should be a benefical process for you. It gives you opportunity to correct any errors, and lets you know how you are performing.
How can I get ready for feedback?
Practising receiving feedback prior to your assessment can help you maintain a positive outlook when you are on assessment. A mock assessment day would provide a good opportunity to practise receiving feedback in this context.
Receiving feedback can sometimes make people feel defensive or emotional. If this happens to you, how would you manage this?
- Practise receiving feedback prior to assessment
- Listen carefully
- Ensure you have understood what is being said, ask if you are unsure or do not understand. It can be useful to ask for examples
- Don’t rush to respond, give yourself time to reflect on the feedback
- If it works for you, take notes as it can be hard to take information in
- Maintain a growth mindset - what are you learning from the feedback you are being given
Don't start assessing yourself, leave this to the assessors.
